claim: "The paper computes the geometric measure of multipartite entanglement of single-walker quantum walks in linear optical networks, where one photon in M modes is a generalized W state, studies the Hadamard walk on a circle of P positions with localized initial coins, and, from numerics for all tested graph sizes and times, expects the symmetric coin (|-> + i|+>)/sqrt 2 to always yield the maximum entanglement for the partition into individual modes."

Donkersloot, Sondenheimer and Sperling, multipartite entanglement of quantum walks

The Hadamard walk on a circle (Section II A): the coin space is , the coin is , the step operator moves to and to with periodic positions , and with . A single walker is one photon in the optical modes.
Entanglement (Sections II B–C): is the supremum of over normalized product states for the partition, , and single-photon states are the generalized W states .
The expectation (Section III C 2), for localized initial states and the partition into individual modes:
The choice for the angles that define the initial coin corresponds to a symmetric walk as the evolutions of the two components of the initial state, and , do not interfere. Hence, we expect this walk to always yield the maximum entanglement. This is indeed the observed behavior for all graph sizes and time steps we have tested.
