Statistical observation and scale changes

Source scope

New Journal of Physics 17, 083005 (2015), author manuscript v4. The author abstract describes operational equivalence classes induced by imperfect measurements and the role of scale or precision in selecting effective models. The v4 record explicitly corrects an error at the end of Section V: the adjoint recovery map does not simply factor over modes. No such factorization is used in the computational-behavior volume.

Use and limits

Section 59 keeps two distinct quantities under successive coarse channels: relative-entropy loss, and failure of the channel to intertwine specified dynamics. Their exact telescoping identity and norm triangle bound are proved directly. These elementary composition results do not construct a Wilsonian flow, establish locality of an effective action, or determine a critical exponent.

The quantum recovery results in Sections 56-58 fix the physical generator, conditional thermal states, logical generator and one CPTP map. They test joint feasibility of statistical calibration and dynamical prediction. The source paper motivates the observation-based interpretation; it is not cited as a proof of the new spectral optimization or finite-window tradeoff.

The source basis for this note is the author bibliographic record, abstract and v4 correction statement. This is an original citation-only summary.
