The linear entropy of qubit :

where the linear entropy \tau_{k(R_k)}=2(1-\mbox{tr}\rho_k^2) \cite{san00} characterizes the total quantum correlation between qubit and the remaining qubits .

The concurrence of a pair of qubits:

C_{ij}=\mbox{max}[(\sqrt{\lambda_{1}}-\sqrt{\lambda_{2}}- \sqrt{\lambda_{3}}-\sqrt{\lambda_{4}}), 0], where the decreasing positive real numbers s are the eigenvalues of matrix \cite{woo01}.

The requirement on a multipartite measure:

(3) it does not increase on average under the LOCC \emph{i.e.}, the measure is entanglement monotone.

The sum of the residual correlations (Eq. (7)):

,

The conjecture:

Nevertheless, we conjecture that the correlation is an entanglement monotone

The paper supports the conjecture with an argument that the decrease of two components of under a POVM on qubit compensates the increase of the third, and with numerical values of the average change of for nine representative states of the SLOCC classification under diagonal two-outcome POVMs with diagonal entries (Fig. 2). It also proves that the single residual correlation does not increase on average under a POVM on qubit (Eq. (6)), and shows by examples in the Appendix that the single residual correlations are not entanglement monotones.

The encoding takes four-qubit vectors as functions , qubits at the indices ; the one- and two-qubit reduced states are the existing partial traces reducedState, the matrix is the existing timeReversed, the eigenvalues are the roots of the characteristic polynomial, with multiplicity, sorted decreasingly, and a matrix acts on qubit as the existing localOp 0 K.
